Tourism Development and City Marketing Strategy in Preparation for the Upcoming Period in Siófok

A new tourism development and city marketing strategy is being prepared for the upcoming period in Siófok, the most significant tourist destination on the shores of Lake Balaton. The city aims to gather input from all target groups.

By completing a short questionnaire, residents, tourists, and holiday homeowners can share their experiences and suggestions regarding Siófok’s tourism offerings, infrastructure, transportation, and services. The questions are tailored specifically to each group.

The city leadership believes that clearly defining long-term tourism development directions and goals—including those affecting tourism indirectly—is key to maintaining Siófok’s leading domestic tourism role and improving its international standing. Successful developments and investments alone do not create a unified image, city identity, or brand. These require an integrated and coordinated strategic framework within the city. For this reason, Siófok is preparing a five-year Tourism Development and City Marketing Strategy in 2025. A key step in this process is conducting and evaluating a questionnaire-based survey targeting the public and other key groups.

Several significant investments are currently underway in Siófok to enhance its tourism appeal (e.g. the development of Krúdy Promenade, renovation of Galerius Spa). Over the past years, the city has undergone substantial development. At the same time, consumer behavior and travel habits have changed considerably due to COVID and wartime conditions, and the composition of the population and property ownership in the city has also shifted. A new specialized strategy has become necessary—one that requires feedback from the public as well. In tourism development and city marketing, the opinions of not only the local government and business sector matter, but also those of people living here in any form or duration, as well as visitors.
