Siófok to Host the Tour de Hongrie for the 19th Time
While Siófok has welcomed several stage starts in recent years (2018–2019, 2021, 2024), the last time a bunch sprint finish was held on the southern shore of Lake Balaton was back in 2017.

On May 15, the Tour de Hongrie continues with a classic Balaton stage. After the start in Veszprém, the peloton reaches the lakeshore at Csopak, then rides through Balatonfüred and Tihany. The first major challenge is a Category 2 climb at Tótvázsony, followed by a descent toward Nemesvámos as the race circles back along the eastern basin of the lake.

As the riders approach Siófok, the route turns south, passing through Ságvár and Tab, then heading into the final stretch from Zamárdi. With two categorized climbs and two intermediate sprints, this stage has the potential to be unpredictable—especially if wind becomes a factor. In ideal conditions, we can expect another thrilling battle between the sprinters.

Veszprém, the “City of Queens,” Returns as a Host
Veszprém, known as the "City of Queens," has already hosted eight Tour de Hongrie stage starts, including four Grand Départs in the early 2000s. Most recently, in 2021, the peloton set off from the historic Óváros Square.

Siófok Welcomes the Tour for the 19th Time
This year marks the 19th occasion that Siófok has hosted the Tour de Hongrie. While the city has held several stage starts in recent years (2018–2019, 2021, 2024), the last time a mass sprint stage finish took place on the southern shore of Lake Balaton was in 2017. That day, Slovenian rider Žiga Jerman took the victory in the “summer capital,” ahead of Scott Sunderland and Hungary’s own Barnabás Peák.
