1st Siófok MÖLKKY (Finnish Bowling) Championship and Juhannus Celebration

We openly declare our intention to establish a tradition by organizing the 1st Siófok Mölkky Championship and Juhannus Celebration, brought to life by the Siófok Hungarian-Finnish Friendship Circle with the professional support of the Hungarian Mölkky Association.

In Finland, the summer solstice, or Midsummer's Eve (Szent Iván éj), is a major celebration. The long, dark days and nights are temporarily replaced by light, warmth, and the promise of outdoor activities. During this time, huge bonfires are lit to ward off evil spirits, the waters of the "land of a thousand lakes" come alive with boats, and bonfires blaze. Friends and families gather, chat, picnic, enjoy the summer warmth, and play Finnish bowling, also known as Mölkky.

As friends of Finland, we also want to celebrate and share this with you. So, even if we're geographically far apart, we can celebrate together with our Finnish friends, united by our close bonds.

Come and spend the afternoon and early evening of the summer solstice (June 21, 2025) together in nature at Töreki Cinege Resting Place!

  • Play Finnish bowling (Mölkky), coordinated by the Hungarian Mölkky Association, where the most skilled players will receive valuable prizes.
  • Take part in the Finnish quiz; the best participant will receive a gift package from the Municipality of Siófok.
  • Let's chat, have fun, and in the evening, light the Juhannus bonfire!

Pre-registration is recommended for the competition, but on-site registration is also possible if you wake up late. You can find all the details on the poster.
